About Church

Galilea Healing Centre was founded in 2006 by a group of Christians involved in church and community activities through the outreach programmes run by various church formations. The areas that Galilea used to concentrate on were working with predominantly coloured communities, but have since moved to the South of Johannesburg because of an outcry for help from community members living in the area. Since the move into the South, we have witnessed the increase in crime, drug and alcohol abuse, increased prostitution, domestic violence cutting across all races and cultures. Over the years through the apartheid era, the coloured communities have always had its share of gangsterism, which has grown steadily, now including all races with younger children and teenagers now forming the core part of gangsters today. Coupled with a high unemployment rate does not create a community where the spirit is that of joy and goodwill. The trend is so familiar where the unemployment rate is high, this gives rise to drug and alcohol abuse, rape, etc The problem that has developed in the communities through these social disorders, have created an environment that has placed a lot of pressure on family values. For these reasons the organisation has been established as a Non Profit Organisation.
